CNC Machinist

Yusa Corporation•Washington Court House, OH

About The Position

The CNC Machinist manufactures, modifies, and fabricates individual components and complete assemblies in support of production, quality, research and development, and engineering teams. The role uses conventional mills and lathes, CNC machining centers, and specialty equipment such as surface grinders and EDM machines. The successful candidate works with a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes to produce finished parts accurately and efficiently. This includes developing custom fixturing and setups, selecting appropriate tooling, and using CAM software. The machinist also plans machining operations from design information, independently programs tool paths, monitors and adjusts processes, verifies completed parts against specifications, communicates manufacturability concerns, and records work in the work order system.

Requirements

  • Punctuality and attendance are crucial.
  • Ability to work independently on complex machining tasks.
  • Some prior training or experience is necessary.
  • CAD/CAM experience.
  • High school graduate or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, modify, and fabricate components and assemblies for production, quality, R&D, and engineering teams.
  • Use conventional mills and lathes, CNC machining centers, surface grinders, EDM machines, and other specialty tools.
  • Use CAD files, engineering drawings, sketches, mating parts, or sample parts to plan fixturing, operation sequence, and tolerances.
  • Design and fabricate holding fixtures for machining raw materials, castings, and other components.
  • Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machining equipment.
  • Calculate and set machining controls such as speed, feed, surface feet per minute, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter and edit computerized machine-control commands.
  • Independently program tool paths to achieve optimal results.
  • Monitor machining processes and make control or programming adjustments to ensure accuracy and reduce rework or scrap.
  • Verify finished components meet engineering specifications and stated tolerances.
  • Communicate manufacturability issues to the team and suggest alternatives that preserve the original design intent.
  • Maintain accurate records of work in the work order system.
  • Work overtime when needed.
