Weekend CNC Machinist (6:00 am to 6:00 pm)
About The Position
Dover Precision Components (DPC) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join their dynamic manufacturing team on a new Weekend Shift. This role involves operating, setting up, and programming CNC machines to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. The position offers an opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines, in a fast-paced environment focused on excellence and continuous improvement. The weekend shift is from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, working 36 hours but paid for 40 hours each week.
Requirements
- Manufacturing experience with prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges.
- One year Machine Tool Operation certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code) and CAM programming software for toolpath creation.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines confidently.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and lean manufacturing practices within a fast-paced production setting.
Responsibilities
- Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
- Locate and download programs from a DNC storage system.
- Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations being performed.
- Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum and bronze.
- Read, understand, edit and/or write programs.
- Understand capabilities of tooling and machinery.
- Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
- Adhere to all Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures.
- Seek out and participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.
