About The Position

This is a temp-to-hire position for a CNC Machinist in Houston, TX. The role involves operating a CNC lathe, making adjustments to programs and machine controls, and ensuring quality compliance. The position is located in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility and requires working 60-72 hours per week, typically on the night shift (4pm-4am), 5-6 days a week, with potential schedule variations based on production demands. A background and drug screening are required.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with MORI SEIKI & MAZAK controls.
  • Setup of various accessory level machined parts.
  • Setup of various lathe tools – must know how to teach and touch off for each tool for either control.
  • Accurately read OD/ID Micrometers and MRP’s.
  • Read and interpret prints, dimension, and tolerances.
  • Follow the process, stay busy, and appear professional at all times.
  • High School education or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC Operator.
  • Good understanding of machine shop operations and processes.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to read blueprints, micrometers and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to understand and execute instructions well.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Steel-toe boots required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some Mazak experience is preferred, though training can be offered if a candidate has never run a Mazak but has a basic understanding.
  • Mazak experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing setups.
  • Operate CNC lathe in accordance with operating instructions.
  • Skillfully make necessary adjustment to CNC program or machine control offsets to assure compliance to all dimensions and quality requirements.
  • Use precision gages, micrometers and other applicable measurement instruments to validate compliance of product.
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity at all times.
  • Responsible for quality of work meeting all requirements.
  • Follow all Company work instructions, specifications and requirements.
  • Follow all Company Rules, Procedures and Policies.
