About The Position

Leidos Defense Sector / Manufacturing is hiring CNC Machinists for its Platform Integration team in Huntsville, Alabama. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating machine tools, including CNC mills and lathes, to produce unique precision parts from engineering drawings and CAD models. The work spans different projects in a fast-paced, changing environment and is performed with little or no assistance. Experience manufacturing complex aerospace components from exotic materials and 5-axis or mill-turn machining is advantageous. This posting covers multiple opportunities with different experience levels; the opportunity level and compensation will be matched to the candidate's experience. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime as operational needs demand.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of precision machining experience on CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Ability to lift at least 35 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Regular attendance.
• Ability to work full-time, four days per week, Monday through Thursday, on 10-hour shifts, with occasional overtime as operational needs demand.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and possess, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience manufacturing complex aerospace components from exotic materials.
• 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
• 5-axis machining experience with Fanuc and Siemens controls.
• Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Experience setting up consumable mill/lathe tooling.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision parts.
• Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Work independently across different projects in a changing, rapid-paced environment.
