CNC Machinist & Programmer (Tooling / Haas)
About The Position
Peerless-AV® is a leading designer and manufacturer of award-winning audio solutions for over 75 years. Our AV solutions range from interactive kiosks, outdoor displays, video wall mounts and more. We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist & Programmer to support our tooling and production operations. This role is responsible for programming, setup, and operation of Haas CNC equipment to meet engineering and production schedules. The ideal candidate has strong machining fundamentals, CAM experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on machining experience
- CNC machining experience including setup and operation
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Working knowledge of G-code and CNC processes
- Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or Hurco controls
- Strong math skills (including trigonometry)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with FeatureCAM or similar CAM software
- Background working with small precision parts
- Tooling, die repair, or fixture-building experience
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (Haas) using CAM software (FeatureCAM preferred)
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Perform first-piece inspections and verify machining accuracy
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling, or setups as needed
- Maintain tight tolerances on small precision parts
- Assist in building, modifying, and repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Operate toolroom equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and Bridgeport machines
- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain equipment and follow preventive maintenance procedures
- Document production activity and communicate across shifts
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Learn to build and repair tools from part prints, 2D electronic prints, 3D CAD detail
