About The Position

Jetstream of Houston, a subsidiary of Federal Signal, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist specializing in Nakamura Lathe machines for their 2nd shift operations. This role involves setting up and operating CNC Nakamura Lathe machines to produce parts to precise specifications. The machinist will analyze blueprints, plan machine setups, and monitor machine functions to ensure quality and adherence to tolerances. Responsibilities also include performing first piece inspections, completing inspection reports, and conducting preventative maintenance. The position requires effective communication with various departments, acting as a subject matter expert, training co-workers, and documenting shift transitions. The role emphasizes active participation in continuous improvement, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements. The position requires working 2nd Shift, from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Machining Technologies or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC Lathe, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret Blueprints/Technical Drawing.

Nice To Haves

  • Twin spindle experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Nakamura Lathe machines
  • Analyze and interpret blueprint, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Plan machine set ups, position work piece and operate various CNC machines through production runs to form specified quantities of piece parts to specified tolerances.
  • Deburr parts as needed.
  • Monitor machine functions to ensure that parts are manufactured to defined specifications
  • Perform first piece inspections and make necessary adjustment to machine to ensure parts are formed to designated tolerances.
  • Complete inspection reports as required and repair any defects found and document critical quality information as necessary
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating optimally.
  • Communicate with managers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues.
  • Act as subject matter expert and train co-workers as requested
  • Document outstanding issues either written or verbally to ensure smooth transition between shift
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of our products and processes to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability of Jetstream
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area complying with all 5S initiatives and advise Production Supervisor of any maintenance problems that may need to be resolved.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
