Fathom Manufacturing is a large digital manufacturing platform offering on-demand services across North America, including additive technologies, CNC machining, injection molding, and more. The CNC Vertical Mills Machinist is essential for producing high-quality, intricate parts in a dynamic manufacturing setting. This role involves setting up and operating CNC vertical machining centers (Brother, OKK, YCM), using MDI programming, and conducting manual inspections for precision. The Machinist will troubleshoot issues, work with various materials (aluminum, plastic, steel), and contribute to process improvements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and clear communication are key to meeting quality standards and delivery goals. The position requires decision-making under pressure, adherence to safety practices, and company EH&S policies, ultimately supporting Dahlquist Machine's growth and Fathom's manufacturing vision.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a relevant field, or 3+ years of experience in milling, or 5+ years of overall CNC machining experience
  • Experience with various materials, such as aluminum, plastic, and steel
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Proficiency in manual inspection using gauges and instruments in support of CMM inspection
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Good communication skills for effective teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Brother, OKK, or YCM machines preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers (Brother, YCM, and OKK)
  • Perform MDI (Manual Data Input) programming for efficient part production
  • Conduct manual inspections using gauges and instruments to ensure part quality before submitting to the Quality Department for CMM inspection
  • Interpret complex 2-D drawings and apply GD&T principles
  • Monitor and inspect parts throughout the machining process
  • Follow company quality and safety procedures
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to resolve technical issues
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve processes
