About The Position

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the full lifecycle of part production on CNC mills and lathes, from initial machine configuration to final quality inspection. This is a technical role that requires setting up tooling, loading raw materials, and making real-time adjustments to G-code programs to maintain tight tolerances. Successful performance requires the physical ability to handle heavy parts and acute attention to detail for troubleshooting mechanical issues in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience as a CNC Machine Operator and set up (Mill and Lathe Machines)
  • A comprehensive understanding of machining center theory, including proficiency in X, Y, and Z-axis orientation, as well as edge and centerline pickup procedures.
  • Advanced ability to utilize a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, various gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators, and CMM equipment.
  • Expert-level blueprint reading skills with full command of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on supporting continuous improvement initiatives and meeting rigorous customer specifications.
  • Ability to perform complex industrial mathematical functions and navigate basic Windows-based applications and MS Office for production tracking.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to handle sensitive controlled data and materials in strict accordance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) policies.
  • Ability to consistently lift, push, and pull raw materials and tooling weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must maintain vision standards compliant with AS 9100 requirements, including the ability to perform high-precision inspections and detect minute surface defects.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be willing to submit to a national background check.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently operate CNC mills and lathes to meet production targets, managing multiple machines simultaneously while ensuring all parts meet strict quality specifications and project timelines.
  • Independently perform accurate machine and tool setups according to technical documentation to ensure optimal production flow.
  • Execute 1st-piece, in-process, and last-piece inspections using precision instruments to verify part integrity.
  • Utilize JobBoss and other digital applications for accurate data collection, production tracking, and internal communication.
  • Perform routine operator-level maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and peak performance.
  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions or tooling issues to minimize downtime and maintain precision.
  • Conduct de-burring and rework of in-process components to meet final finishing standards.
  • Proactively identify and recommend adjustments to optimize machining processes and increase operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation in full alignment with 5S standards.
  • Execute all duties in strict accordance with PAC safety standards and company policies to ensure a zero-accident environment.
