About The Position

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) vertical milling machine. Maintains safety and quality standards, keeps proper documentation, and maintains equipment and supplies to support the achievement of Masterbilt’s business goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Manufacturing: 2 years
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Fundamental knowledge of CNC machining/manufacturing machining principles
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge
  • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude
  • Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
  • Proficient at CNC Lathe machines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, strong ability to create/write work instructions and train others.
  • Solid collaboration skills, ability to listen to ideas, others, and implement the best enhancements, ability to work with others, be open minded to ideas and try new things. Ability to be positive, conceptualize, and initiate projects effectively. Versatility/flexibility is also key to perform various portions of multiple projects.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, as required for travel in the role

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, part blueprints, materials, specifications, engineering plans, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and indicating vices.
  • Develops fixturing designs and tools for proper work holding.
  • Maintains specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
