Requirements

  • Ability to set up and operate CNC machine tools (mills, horizontal or vertical lathe, machining center, grinder).
  • Proficiency with fixtures, tools, inserts, chucks, heads, cutters, etc.
  • Experience with measuring instruments such as gages, micrometers, indicators.
  • Ability to read blueprints and process documents.
  • Familiarity with hand tools.
  • Ability to work with ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Ability to handle medium weight materials by hand and heavier materials by hoist or crane.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating two machines simultaneously.
  • Experience with deburring, checking work, or presetting tools during machine cycle.
  • Experience maintaining standard work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate an individual CNC machine tool or several machine tools organized in a work group or cell.
  • Receive assignments, drawings, process documents, program tapes, manuscripts and/or verbal instructions.
  • Set up machines using tools and equipment needed according to standard work instructions and machine requirements.
  • Establish reference points and set offsets.
  • May be required to preset tools.
  • Make trial runs or prove out tapes as required.
  • Perform work to tolerances indicated.
  • May be required to operate two machines simultaneously or perform other miscellaneous duties such as deburring, checking work, or presetting tools during machine cycle.
  • Maintain standard work files, program files, fixtures, tooling, etc.
  • Keep machine clean and perform daily routine maintenance checks.
  • Handle medium weight materials by hand and heavier materials by hoist or crane.
