About The Position

This role is for one of our clients. We are seeking experienced CNC machining professionals to contribute to the development of a high-quality evaluation dataset for CNC manufacturing. In this role, you will apply your real-world production experience to assess machining approaches, develop objective evaluation criteria, and determine whether a proposed solution would be suitable for an actual production environment. You will bring practical shop-floor judgment to evaluating machining strategies, identifying potential safety or quality issues, and explaining why a solution should be approved or rejected.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on professional CNC machining experience.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and production workflows.
  • Demonstrated production-floor judgment and the ability to determine whether a machining approach can be executed safely and reliably on a real machine.
  • Ability to identify potential issues involving tooling, machine constraints, workholding, toolpaths, feeds and speeds, or machining strategy.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical reasoning.
  • Excellent written English communication skills, as all deliverables will be text-based.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and pass/fail judgments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Haas CNC machines, particularly the Haas VF-2.
  • Experience with hobbyist or desktop CNC machines, including the Makera Carvera.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM workflows and interpreting machining plans or CNC programs.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising CNC machinists.
  • Previous experience reviewing machining processes for production readiness, quality, or safety.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of text-based, objective, and verifiable grading rubrics for CNC machining solutions.
  • Evaluate machining approaches across provided CAD models and relevant manufacturing context, including: Stock material, Machine capabilities, Tooling, Toolpaths, Machining strategy.
  • Define clear criteria for determining whether a machining solution is production-ready.
  • Provide concise verification rationale explaining the reasoning behind each evaluation criterion.
  • Review sample CNC machining solutions and determine whether they should pass or fail.
  • Identify unsafe, impractical, inefficient, or technically incorrect machining approaches.
  • Apply real-world production knowledge to ensure evaluation standards reflect actual CNC manufacturing practices.
