About The Position

Williams International is a privately-owned company that develops and manufactures jet engines for both military and commercial aircraft applications. The company fosters creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Williams International has an exciting opportunity for two Machining Apprentices to join their team beginning July 2026. Under the supervision of a Manufacturing Team Leader/Mentor, the apprentice will first complete a three-month pre-apprenticeship program. This pre-apprenticeship focuses on training in safety, basic blueprint reading, basic machining on conventional lathes and mills, measurements, and parts verification. After successfully completing the pre-apprenticeship, the apprentice will be registered with the Department of Labor under a CNC Machining apprenticeship program. This program will include on-the-job training as well as instructor-led courses through Oakland Community College, focusing on CNC lathes, CNC mills, and advanced machining. The apprenticeship training period is for 2 years. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate will transition into an off-shift position as a permanent full-time employee.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting engineering drawings or set-up sheets
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches)
  • Capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds
  • Grip strength of at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to reach above the shoulder (65 inches)
  • U.S. Citizenship status required
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed
  • Meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to a machining curriculum (i.e. High School or Community College Machining Curriculum)
  • Familiarity with CNC setup and operation

Responsibilities
