This position involves performing secondary operations on castings, including drilling, tapping, reaming, broaching, and more. The operator will visually check castings during machine operation, maintain a continuous flow of castings, and may take measurements to ensure conformance to specifications and pack finished products. Responsibilities also include operating a trim press for removing die casting gates and runners, visually inspecting castings, and potentially hand grinding, filing, or buffing die castings. Some assembly operations may be required. The role operates computerized lathes and machining centers, performing procedures like boring, milling, and turning. Quality inspection using a coordinate measuring machine and problem-solving skills are essential. The operator will perform tool offsets using computerized equipment and work from blueprints and machine programming language, understanding the axis system.
