About The Position

The CNC & Lathe Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs to support both production and research & development (R&D) initiatives at Wunder-Bar. This role ensures precision machining of components, improves process efficiency, and collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to deliver high-quality parts that meet design specifications and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of CNC programming experience (mills and lathes) in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • CNC Programming & Setup Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills and lathes using CAD/CAM software.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to develop accurate machining strategies.
  • Set up CNC machines, including tooling selection, offsets, and fixturing.
  • Perform first article inspections to validate program accuracy and part conformity.
  • Production Support Support daily production by troubleshooting machining issues and improving cycle times.
  • Collaborate with machinists and operators to ensure efficient and consistent output.
  • Maintain program documentation, setup sheets, and tooling requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • R&D and Continuous Improvement Partner with engineering on prototype development and new product introductions.
  • Develop machining processes for new components, including tool paths and work holding solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and waste minimization.
  • Assist in transitioning prototype processes into full-scale production.
  • Quality & Compliance Ensure all machined parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) for inspection.
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean manufacturing practices.
