About The Position

ARCH - Minneapolis is looking for a CNC Lathe Machine Lead to join our team! This role offers an opportunity to coach and develop other machinists while remaining hands-on as a working lead. The position focuses on determining work assignments, resolving team issues, training machinists, providing leadership to inexperienced machinists, handling maintenance requests, safety incident reporting, managing the production schedule, and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality parts. Responsibilities may also include performing set-ups, modifying, and creating programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a machining environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2-year previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP system and Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use micrometers, calipers, and other QA gauges.
  • Ability to set up and operate machine tools.
  • Ability to program machine tools.
  • Must be a U.S. person due to contractual requirements (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Nice To Haves

  • Contract Manufacturing experience highly desirable.
  • Machine Tool Technology degree (completed or pursuing).
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience operating a CNC mill machine.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading production in the CNC Lathe area and communicating with leads on other shifts.
  • Managing daily priorities and assigning work to maintain optimal flow.
  • Prioritizing work based upon product and resources.
  • Participating in daily production and GEMBA meetings.
  • Monitoring CNC Machinist productivity to ensure correct machining processes and consistency with manufacturing objectives.
  • Planning and coordinating workflow with other departments and the scheduling function.
  • Supporting company policies and collaborating with the Leadership Team to resolve issues.
  • Interviewing and evaluating applicants for vacant positions.
  • Setting up and operating a variety of CNC equipment to produce components using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Leading process improvement, process development, and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Ensuring employees perform and document in-process QA inspections, labor entry, and safety near miss/injuries.
  • Managing and consistently maintaining a clean and organized department.
