About The Position

ARCH - Minneapolis is looking for a CNC Milling/Lathe Machine Lead to join our weekend day shift team! This role offers an opportunity to coach and develop other machinists while remaining hands-on as a working lead. The position involves determining work assignments, resolving team issues, training machinists, providing leadership to inexperienced machinists, handling maintenance requests, safety incident reporting, managing the production schedule, and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality parts. Responsibilities also include performing set-ups, modifying, and creating programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a machining environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2-year previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast past work environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP system and Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use micrometers, calipers, and other QA gauges
  • Ability to set up and operate machine tools.
  • Ability to program machine tools.
  • U.S. person status (due to contractual requirements and ITAR regulations)

Nice To Haves

  • Contract Manufacturing experience highly desirable
  • Machine Tool Technology degree (completed or pursuing)
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience operating a CNC mill machine
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading production in the Milling/CNC Lathe area (on weekend day shift) and communicating with leads on other shifts.
  • Responsible for managing daily priorities, assigning work to those in the department to maintain optimal flow.
  • Prioritize work based upon product and resources.
  • Participate in production meetings to maintain constant communication of scheduled work.
  • Monitors CNC Machinist productivity to ensure correct machining processes are used and department activities are consistent with manufacturing objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate workflow with other departments and scheduling function.
  • Supports company policies working with direct reports and collaborates with the Leadership Team to resolve issues/concerns.
  • Interview and evaluate applicants for vacant positions.
  • Occasionally set up and operate a variety of CNC equipment to produce components using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Leads process improvement, process development, and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Ensure employees are performing and documenting in-process QA inspections, labor entry, and safety near miss/injuries.
  • Responsible for managing and consistently maintaining a clean and organized department.
