About The Position

This role is responsible for producing metal parts to customer specifications using laser equipment, specifically ByStronic. The operator will be required to set and program the laser equipment for specific custom jobs. Experience working with a variety of computer file types would be helpful. The position involves setting up and operating cutting machine(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, and may include programming and/or editing on assigned machine(s). The operator will also perform preventative maintenance on assigned machine(s) and corresponding equipment. Familiarity with laser cutting operations using oxygen and nitrogen, as well as CNC G-code language, is essential. The job requires operating the machine, loading and unloading parts, checking work for required operations and specifications, and placing finished parts on a skid. Inspection and measurement of completed production units to identify defects caused by equipment setup are also key responsibilities. The operator must safely and accurately operate the machine to produce finished work pieces to quality and efficiency standards, including loading materials. Reading work orders to determine specifications, such as materials, dimensions, tolerances, and proper labeling, and accurately completing all required functions to ensure quality product is produced and shipped is crucial. The role also supports 6S initiatives by keeping the work area clean and safely uses assigned power equipment (overhead crane, forklift) to move material and meet order requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced measurement competency
  • Basic math competency
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • High School diploma or associate degree in manufacturing or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of Gerber laser cutting machine operator experience with emphasis in the textile industry.
  • Experience in reading drawings and tolerances
  • Familiar, comfortable, and experienced with laser cutting operations using oxygen and nitrogen.
  • Familiar with CNC G-code language
