About The Position

KCC Companies is an employee-owned (ESOP) company dedicated to providing complete design, manufacturing, installation, and service for commercial & residential Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). This role involves setting up and operating a CNC Laser machine in accordance with established procedures, with a commitment to making the machine and process a success. The position is full-time, working eight hours per day, five days per week, with possible overtime.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of using common measuring equipment for sheet metal.
  • Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings and process instructions.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to distinguish material types, including aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel.
  • Demonstrated reliability, i.e. attendance, process conformance.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Requires bending, stooping, and standing.
  • Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Good visual and spatial perception.
  • Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years CNC machine experience
  • Associates degree in Mechanical Technology

Responsibilities

  • Verify all equipment safety features are operating properly at the beginning of the shift and report any issues to the shift leader.
  • Observe and comply with all PPE and safety requirements.
  • Review work instructions, prints, and routers for each job.
  • Set up and operate the machine in accordance with procedures.
  • Utilize measuring devices such as protractor, vernier calipers, micrometer, thickness gauge, machinist square, etc., to check and verify accuracy of work.
  • Work with the shift leader and others to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Perform operator preventive maintenance of the machine and tooling as required.
  • May be required to program the operation of a CNC press brake.
  • Understand and adhere to laser and heavy machinery safety.
  • Understand and adhere to sheet metal handling safety.
  • Read part drawings and understand tolerance requirements.
  • Safely lift 50 pounds without the use of lifting equipment.
  • Understand and operate laser controls.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Obtain a fork truck driver's license.
  • Report machine and tooling problems to the supervisor.
  • May be required to assist maintenance in the repair of the laser.
  • Maintain and safeguard personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Identify and eliminate unsafe acts.
  • Recommend drawing changes, equipment changes or improvements, reduce setup time and tooling costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
