The CNC Folding Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Schröder CNC folding equipment to produce high-quality sheet metal components for truck beds. This skilled role supports production as well as first article runs and complex parts, working closely with Engineering to troubleshoot forming issues, modify programs, and develop repeatable manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating CNC sheet metal folding or bending equipment required
  • Experience with Schröder CNC folding machines strongly preferred
  • Experience independently setting up CNC folding equipment and making program adjustments
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal forming, bend sequencing, tooling selection, bend allowance, and springback
  • Skilled in blueprint reading, measuring tools, and dimensional inspection
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to adjust CNC programs and machine settings to achieve part specifications
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality craftsmanship
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and Production
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment on complex parts and setups

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with first article, prototype, complex, or tight-tolerance sheet metal parts preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Schröder CNC folding equipment according to job orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, bend requirements, and job specifications
  • Select appropriate tooling, programs, and machine settings based on material type, gauge, and part requirements
  • Support first article runs for new and revised components, verifying parts meet drawing and quality requirements
  • Produce complex, tight-tolerance, and low-volume parts requiring advanced setup and operator judgment
  • Work with Engineering to troubleshoot forming issues and modify CNC programs, bend sequences, and manufacturing methods
  • Make machine and program adjustments for material variation, springback, bend allowance, and other forming conditions
  • Provide feedback to Engineering when drawings, programs, tooling, or manufacturing methods can be improved
  • Help establish repeatable setups and programs so first article and complex-part work can transition successfully into production
  • Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, and other measurement tools
  • Monitor quality throughout production and make adjustments to minimize scrap and rework
  • Maintain tooling, equipment, and work area in a clean and organized condition
  • Assist with training or technical guidance for less-experienced operators as needed
