About The Position

This role involves the care of Elders and their environment, encompassing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) duties, as well as cooking, laundry, and housekeeping. CNAs may also serve as Care Coordinators to support team success. Additional responsibilities as a Guide role are included in the Addendums for higher accountability within the team.

Requirements

  • CNA License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • First aid certification from a nationally recognized organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience in a senior care or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend in-service training, educational classes, and meetings as required.
  • Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Community Electronic Health Record software.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Community policies and procedures.
  • Solve basic mathematical procedures.
  • Maintain the highest degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • Know and honor Resident Rights.
  • Communicate with residents in a respectful manner.
  • Respond to resident family/visitor requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Provide effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers.
  • Recognize and respond to the needs of Elders.
  • Promote autonomy of Elders in decision making.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of Elder care, procedures, and documentation.
  • Communicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of Elders.
  • Observe, monitor, and report to the Nurse any change in condition.
  • Document observed data per organization policy.
  • Assist Elders with personal care functions.
  • Assist Elders with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, and anatomical dimension/circumference.
  • Assist moving, positioning, and transporting elders into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc.
  • Prepare and serve meals, between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks per the posted menu and the stated preferences of the Elders.
  • Keep all areas of the home clean, performing routine housekeeping duties.
  • Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linens.
  • Launder clothing, linen and other articles.
  • Report accidents and incidents when they occur.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the elder.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Attend and participate in Elder care conferences providing observations, achievements and concerns about Elder in your care.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident’s room including daily cleaning, deep cleaning as required, and discharge cleaning.
  • Assist Resident with care and handling of personal laundry.
  • Assist with dining including setting/cleaning tables, meal delivery [if necessary], serving meals, and washing dishes.
  • Provide information, encourage, and participate with residents in activity focused programs.
