About The Position

Join Mercy College of Health Sciences' CNA Training Program and Launch Your Healthcare Career with MercyOne! This is a 3-week, full-time, day shift program running from July 6th to July 24th. The program includes classroom instruction, lab practice, and clinical experience with local healthcare partners. Upon successful completion, participants are guaranteed a full-time Patient Care Technician (PCT) role with 12-hour shifts (Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), requiring work of rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Attendance is mandatory, and missing any part of the training forfeits your spot. This program is eligible for the Iowa state nurse aide exam. Pre-employment requirements, including a drug screen, physical, and background check, must be completed before starting.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Mandatory attendance for the entire 3-week program.
• Completion of pre-employment requirements (drug screen, physical, background check).

Nice To Haves

• Eligibility for the Iowa state nurse aide exam.

Responsibilities

• Attend all mandatory classroom instruction and lab practice sessions.
• Participate in clinical experience with local healthcare partners.
• Learn and practice personal care skills such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
• Develop skills in patient advocacy and communication.
• Master safe patient handling and observation techniques.
• Learn specimen collection and post-mortem care procedures.
• Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays upon completion of the program.
• Complete pre-employment requirements including drug screen, physical, and background check.
