About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays an essential role in supporting high-quality patient care. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the direct supervision of an RN or LPN, the CNA assists patients with daily living activities, comfort measures, and mobility needs while consistently promoting dignity, independence, and safety. This role is an important part of a collaborative, supportive care team, contributing to a compassionate care environment through careful observation, timely reporting of patient changes, and clear communication with nursing staff. By supporting individualized care plans and organizational standards, CNAs help ensure patients receive consistent, attentive, and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Current North Dakota CNA certification required.
  • BLS required within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification required.
  • Must be able to follow written procedures for care of patients and department.
  • Must know proper lifting techniques and how to handle special equipment for Surgery.
  • Must be able to follow verbal directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Clerical training preferred.
  • Preferred past work experience, but not required.
  • Experience and skills in OR nurse assistant roles preferred.
  • Prefers computer skills/ understanding of Excel/ Microsoft word, ability to run graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with safe transportation and positioning of surgical patients, providing basic care and comfort under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Support daily Surgical Services operations by performing cleaning, housekeeping, restocking, and supply ordering activities to maintain readiness of surgical suites.
  • Staff the Central Core by organizing, preparing, and distributing supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with clerical and unit coordination tasks as needed, including maintaining surgery schedules, computer logging, and supporting communication at the control desk.
  • Monitor and maintain a clean, organized, and safe surgical environment in accordance with infection-prevention and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing, surgical, and support staff to ensure efficient workflow, timely case turnover, and effective communication throughout the department.
