About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a CNA / Nursing Assistant to join our Preop/PACU team. This role provides direct patient care and support in the Preop and PACU setting, including vital sign monitoring, patient preparation and recovery assistance, transport, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient care environment under the direction of a registered nurse. The position is full-time, 0.9 FTE, with 36 scheduled weekly hours, working the night shift from 9 PM to 9 AM. Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA role).
  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA role).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant role).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant role).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant role).
  • Based on department need, Medication Aide certification and completion of an Injectables course may be required after hire in outpatient settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant role).

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient's plan of care.
