Requirements

  • Completion of Nursing Assistant coursework required.
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive sitting, bending, standing, walking, and movement as needed.
  • Must be flexible, calm, and professional in changing or stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize technology and care resources efficiently and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with older adults and providing personal care services in long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, senior living, or a similar setting preferred.
  • A compassionate, dependable, and respectful approach to care.
  • Strong communication skills with residents, guests, families, nurses, and team members.
  • Ability to notice changes in condition and report concerns promptly.
  • Strong attention to detail with care, safety, documentation, and follow-through.

  • Comfort using technology and care resources efficiently and effectively.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, senior living, or personal care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care to residents and guests on assigned neighborhoods.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, undressing, hygiene care, perineal care, and barrier ointment application.
  • Change soiled linens and help keep patient care areas clean, safe, and free of obstacles.
  • Answer call lights timely and help determine resident or guest needs.
  • Assist residents and guests with meals and support a healthy, comfortable dining experience.
  • Observe and report changes in physical condition, behavior, or needs to the Nurse Manager or nurse.
  • Complete and record blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight according to facility policy or direction.
  • Document care in Point of Care and notify the Nurse Manager of refusals of care or abnormal vital signs.
  • Ensure care plan interventions are in place throughout each shift.
  • Use the INTERACT program, including STOP and WATCH, as appropriate.
  • Wear and use a gait belt according to each resident’s or guest’s care plan.
  • Transport residents and guests using wheelchairs or assist with ambulation according to care plans.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, guests, families, nurses, and team members.
