About The Position
This position is for a part-time CNA Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role involves teaching and evaluating educational programs in nursing. The instructor must demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diverse student backgrounds. Employment is contingent upon approval from the CDPH to teach for MiraCosta College.
Requirements
- A current California LVN or RN license.
- Either a bachelor's degree (or higher) and two (2) years of professional experience as a LVN or RN in practice and/or teaching, OR an associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience as a LVN or RN in practice and/or teaching.
- At least one (1) year of nursing experience (as a LVN or RN in practice) providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.
- Either at least one (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing, OR twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program). Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
