This is a full-time position for a CNA/HUC in the Postpartum unit at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The position requires prompt response to call lights, performing purposeful rounding, and communicating patient needs to the RN. Duties include patient positioning and transporting, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and ensuring special patient supplies are provided. The role also involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans as directed. Infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene and knowledge of aseptic procedures, are essential. The position also coordinates tests and treatments, maintains knowledge of diagnostic and treatment departments, and utilizes EHR and other computer systems for ordering supplies and processing charges. Facilitating communication through multi-line telephones and hospital information systems, screening calls, and monitoring/troubleshooting office equipment are also part of the role. Compiling chart forms, obtaining medical records for transfers, and verifying patient information are required. The role emphasizes establishing positive customer relations, contributing to a harmonious work environment, and demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
