About The Position
VNA of NWI Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) for its six-bed inpatient hospice center in Valparaiso, Indiana. The role provides personalized, hands-on care and emotional support to patients and families in a peaceful, home-like environment, emphasizing comfort, dignity, and exceptional care. This is a part-time day position, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a rotating schedule that includes Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday and Sunday.
Requirements
- Current Indiana CNA certification or HHA certification.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospice, long-term care, hospital, or home health experience preferred.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting comfort and dignity.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment.
- Provide compassionate emotional support to patients and their loved ones.
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Document care provided according to agency policies and regulations.
