About The Position

Finger Lakes Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as the Educator and Instructor for our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program. The RN Educator provides both classroom and clinical instruction to support the development of high-quality long-term care staff.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing (RN).
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners through one of the following: Completion of a course in teaching adult learners or NYSED teacher certification, Two years teaching nursing/nursing-related programs to adults in an accredited academic setting, or Two years teaching nurse aides in a long-term care setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, assess learning needs, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Comfortable using audiovisual equipment and creating visual teaching materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Professional, respectful, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and skills to support adult and geriatric patient needs.
  • Ability to supervise and guide staff/students providing age-appropriate care.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or willingness to pursue.
  • Experience teaching a CNA Training Program.
  • Computer literacy required; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise CNA students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and skills demonstrations.
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with New York State training requirements.
  • Support new CNAs and long-term care staff with ongoing education and competency assessments.
  • Model excellent customer service, professionalism, and the principles of a Healing Environment.
