About The Position

Hospice of North Alabama is seeking a dedicated Hospice CNA to provide care to hospice patients in the Morgan County coverage area. The role supports patients and families at home by providing personal care, comfort, companionship, and practical assistance. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The position offers one-to-one patient care, flexible scheduling options, independent work with team support, and opportunities for advancement.

Requirements

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice.
• At least six months of experience, including providing personal care.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 classroom hours must be completed before the required 16 hours of practical training.
• Maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
• Understand hospice philosophy and be comfortable providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision and handle death and dying.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning.
• Observe patients and report changes in their condition.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and safe equipment use.
• Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide companionship and emotional comfort to patients and families.
• Change linens, assist with meals, and maintain a clean space.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.
