CMT Field Engineering Technician
About The Position
NOVA Engineering is seeking a full-time CMT Field Engineering Technician for NOVA's Kennesaw, GA office to work on commercial and infrastructure construction projects throughout the Atlanta metropolitan statistical area (MSA). The individual will be responsible for conducting field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, rebar, and masonry/mortar/grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications. This role involves reviewing blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites, documenting field activities, observations, and testing results, and utilizing Metafield and/or other field and laboratory information management systems for recording of testing results. The technician will also be responsible for communicating field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients, as well as calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials is required
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing - Level I certification is required
- Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment), is required
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work and maneuver equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Willingness to travel out-of-town (typically overnight) for short duration assignments
Nice To Haves
- International Code Council (ICC) special inspector certifications in Soils, Reinforced Concrete, and Structural Masonry are preferred
Responsibilities

- Review blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites.
- Document field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.
- Utilize Metafield and/or other field and laboratory information management systems for recording of testing results.
- Communication of field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients.
- Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
