CMT Engineering Technician
About The Position
NOVA Engineering is seeking a full-time CMT Engineering Field Technician or Special Inspector for NOVA's Panama City Beach, FL office. This role involves conducting field testing of various construction materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The technician will also be responsible for reviewing blueprints, documenting field activities and results, utilizing information management systems, communicating findings, and calibrating equipment. NOVA emphasizes career growth and offers training and a Credential Incentive Program to support staff in obtaining certifications.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials is required
- ACI certification is required
- Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment), is required
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Nice To Haves
- FDOT certifications are preferred
- ICC certifications in Soils, Reinforced Concrete, and Structural Masonry are preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, rebar, and masonry/mortar/grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications.
- Review blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites.
- Document field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.
- Utilize Metafield and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording of testing results.
- Communication of field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients.
- Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
