Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in mechanical inspection.
  • Proficient in advanced CMM programming using PC-DMIS 4.2 or later.
  • Ability to work to close tolerances in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to perform complex set-ups for part inspection.
  • Proficient with complex blueprints and advanced job shop mathematical calculations.
  • Familiar with all facets of inspection techniques, including CMM operation, a wide range of inspection and measuring tools, and surface plate set-ups.
  • Thorough understanding of true position tolerancing and application of Cartesian coordinate systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with documentation requirements for an ISO-based quality system.
  • Able to follow written instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and documentation in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AS9100-certified aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with additional CMM software platforms (Calypso, Modus, OpenDMIS).
  • Certifications in inspection or metrology (ASQ CQI, NIMS).
  • Experience with optical comparators, surface finish testing, and hardness testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS to support precision inspection of machined components.
  • Perform mechanical inspection of parts including first article, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Verify materials and processes, and validate certifications received from sub-tier vendors.
  • Complete all applicable inspection paperwork in accordance with AS9100 standards.
  • Perform other quality functions as required to ensure timely delivery of precision machined parts to the customer.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss.
  • Assist in training other inspectors and provide technical guidance on inspection techniques.
  • Support calibration of inspection tools and help develop and enforce quality system procedures to satisfy ISO, military, and customer specifications.
  • Perform other duties as requested; may require training in hazardous material handling depending on job assignment.
