About The Position

United CNC Machining is seeking a CMM Operator experienced with the Hexagon Romer Absolute Arm (or equivalent portable CMM arm) and PC-DMIS software to perform first article, in-process, and final part inspections on precision-machined aerospace and defense components. This role supports our AS9100D/ISO 9001 quality system and requires familiarity with GD&T and blueprint reading.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating a portable CMM arm (Romer/Roamer, FARO, or similar)
  • Proficiency in PC-DMIS software (programming and operation)
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (per ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading
  • Ability to use standard measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain compliance with ITAR requirements (U.S. Person status required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports preferred
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing quality experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with AS9100D/ISO 9001 quality systems a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate portable CMM arm (Romer/Roamer Arm III) to inspect machined parts against engineering drawings and specifications
  • Create, edit, and run inspection programs using PC-DMIS software
  • Perform first article inspections (AS9102 format) and generate FAI reports
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify dimensional conformance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, and customer specifications
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
  • Identify and report nonconformances; support root cause and corrective action activities
  • Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment per quality procedures
  • Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality team to resolve dimensional issues
  • Maintain compliance with ITAR and customer-specific quality requirements
