About The Position

The CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) Operator is a quality-driven professional responsible for performing dimensional inspections of high-precision components and manufacturing materials. This role ensures products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements through accurate measurement and inspection.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
5+ years of precision inspection experience using CMMs in quality-controlled environment.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) to interpret complex engineering intents.
Ensure accurate measurements using GD&T principles.
Experience with CMM software (CMM Manager preferred) and measurement hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Knowledge of quality assurance principles related to dimensional inspection.
Knowledge of ANSI sampling standards.
Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
Proficient math skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

technical certifications or associate degrees in engineering or manufacturing disciplines are preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate manual CMM machinery to perform in-process, first-article, and final dimensional inspections.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
Collaborate with engineering to identify critical inspection dimensions.
Determine appropriate measuring instruments required based on drawings.
Accurately record inspection data including calibrated instruments used.
Document acceptance or rejection of material.
Collaborate with engineering and/or manufacturing to troubleshoot discrepancies.
Appropriately label and segregate materials that do not meet specification.
Assist with non-CMM related inspections as needed.
