About The Position

The CMF (Color, Material & Finish) Industrial Design Co-op supports CMF development for new Shark and Ninja products. The co-op works with the CMF Senior Team and Design Directors, as well as global teams and colleagues in Engineering, Marketing, Creative, Compliance, and APAC manufacturing. The role contributes to projects delivered on time and within budget, including color specifications, retailer-focused color proposals, trend reporting, material-library maintenance, and design implementation. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week co-op from January through June 2027, onsite five days per week in Needham, Massachusetts. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided. Applicants must be current students in a related bachelor's or master's program, or have graduated from such a program within the past year. Work samples are required in addition to a resume.

Requirements

Be a current student in a related bachelor's or master's program, or have graduated from such a program within the past year.
Be able to work full time, 40 hours per week, onsite in Needham, MA, five days per week.
Have strong skills or knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
Have an interest in color communication toward international standards.
Provide samples of work in addition to a resume; samples may be linked in the resume or included as a cover letter.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity and experience with Pantone, NCS, SPI, YickSang, and Mold-Tech.
Excellent rendering quality using KeyShot and/or Photoshop.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing CMF development for new products.
Create, track, and maintain color specifications (ID SPECS).
Develop color-palette proposals targeted to different retailers.
Collect, organize, and archive supplier CMF samples in a material library.
Track consumer trends and contribute to trend reports.
Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes and well-crafted products.
Assist with developing and implementing complex, innovative concepts.
Discuss design daily with the APAC manufacturing team and suppliers.
Work closely with the Compliance team.
Support UI design, icon design, and rating/warning label creation.
Work with Engineering, Marketing, and Creative to deliver projects on time and within budget.
