Cluster Supply Chain Engineer

Tenneco•Plymouth, MI

About The Position

The Cluster Supply Chain Engineer is the cluster-level technical resource for P3 Integrated Supply Chain. The role helps plants stabilize execution, standardize processes and systems, simplify work, and meet P3 maturity requirements. It provides hands-on analysis, daily follow-up, plant support, and practical standards to improve ERP and inventory integrity, planning, material flow, logistics, and schedule execution across the cluster, while maintaining plant ownership. The role coaches Plant Supply Chain Leaders and pillar owners at Gemba, builds plant capability and accountability, and coordinates deployment across plant and regional or global teams. It leads the P3 journey through stabilization, standardization, simplification, and certification, supporting assessments, evidence readiness, KPI performance, and sustained operating routines. The position requires travel of 50%–75% across the assigned cluster and hands-on work with plant teams. Tenneco describes a fast-paced environment focused on shaping the P3 Integrated Supply Chain operating system, with exposure to Lean, ERP, analytics, cross-functional problem solving, and plant transformation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Hands-on manufacturing supply chain execution experience involving production scheduling, schedule adherence, inventory, material handling, logistics, ERP/MRP, PFEP, and customer delivery.
  • Proven success deploying common processes across multiple plants with different systems, maturity levels, products, and organizational capabilities.
  • Experience translating operating-system or maturity standards into assessments, roadmaps, evidence, governance, certification, and sustainment.
  • Practical Lean supply chain experience with daily management, Leader Standard Work, VSM, pull, Kanban, supermarkets, standard work, Kaizen, A3/PPS, and flow improvement.
  • Strong ERP/MRP knowledge and practical experience with part setup, transaction compliance, cycle counting, inventory controls, data analysis, and root-cause correction.
  • Ability to coach leaders, facilitate difficult cross-functional decisions, build capability, and influence in a matrix without taking ownership away from plants.
  • Experience maintaining daily and weekly reporting, timely plant submissions, action logs, milestones, risks, updates across multiple sites, and improvement tracking through WAVE.
  • Strong ERP/MRP (SAP and PLEX), Excel, BI, analytics, and process-mapping capability.
  • Strong plant-floor facilitation, training, communication, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50%–75% across the assigned cluster and work hands-on with plant teams at the Gemba.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean/Six Sigma capability.
  • APICS CPIM, APICS CSCP, or another supply-chain certification.
  • Additional languages relevant to the assigned cluster.

Responsibilities

  • Build site P3 Integrated Supply Chain roadmaps, organizations, and RASCI; establish daily and weekly governance, calibrate priorities, remove barriers, and prepare sites to own and sustain certification.
  • Align production schedules to demand and capacity; improve schedule adherence, production control, WIP and finished-goods optimization, customer delivery, scorecard review, and recovery discipline.
  • Improve MRP cadence and exception closure, supplier scheduling, raw-material optimization, supplier risk and performance, inbound planning, and recovery governance.
  • Deploy PFEP, packaging and storage standards, warehouse controls, supermarkets, pull signals, replenishment routes, FIFO, line-side presentation, and safe internal material flow.
  • Standardize ERP part setup and transactions such as bin moves, receiving, shipping, and scrap; improve cycle-count compliance, inventory accuracy, WAVE discipline, root-cause closure, and system-of-record integrity.
  • Standardize transportation lanes, routing, planning, tendering, shipment visibility, carrier escalation, invoice controls, load utilization, and premium-freight governance.
  • Visit plants to identify opportunities, define and implement best practices, improve flow and inventory, coach at Gemba, and track actions and measurable benefits.
  • Provide plant and cluster leadership with fact-based views of maturity, risk, KPI gaps, resource barriers, cross-site priorities, and certification readiness; escalate systemic issues plants cannot resolve alone.
  • Implement P3 standards with regional and global teams, document field learning, share best practices, and align cluster deployment with the global P3 Integrated Supply Chain model.
  • Run daily metrics, Tier 3 boards, past-due tracking, ERP exception tracking, and weekly ELT data; maintain accurate and timely submissions and follow actions through closure.
  • Protect customer delivery through schedule alignment, schedule adherence, inventory accuracy, clear recovery ownership, and timely escalation.
  • Deploy common process definitions, RASCI, Leader Standard Work, tier and S&OE routines, PFEP and planning rules, ERP transaction standards, KPI definitions, evidence controls, and review cadences.
  • Remove duplicate reports, disconnected spreadsheets, unnecessary approvals, inconsistent local practices, avoidable handoffs, excess inventory, transportation waste, and manual workarounds.
  • Assist with self-assessment and calibration, validate evidence through Go-Look-See, close maturity gaps, ensure KPI readiness, conduct pre-assessments, support formal certification, and sustain routines after assessment.
  • Coach plant leaders and pillar owners to understand standards, own the work, coach their teams, maintain evidence, and continue improving without ongoing dependence on cluster support.
  • Document and share proven solutions across the cluster, and support a common operating model with standards, KPIs, governance, and escalation adapted to site size and complexity.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support well-being.
  • Work and learn in a fast-paced environment while shaping the P3 Integrated Supply Chain operating system.
  • Hands-on exposure to Lean, ERP, analytics, cross-functional problem solving, and plant transformation.
