About The Position

Halogen Engineering Group is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements. The role contributes to back-end processing, analysis, and indexing, applying expertise in cloud computing, Hadoop ecosystem technologies, Java applications, distributed computing, information retrieval, and object-oriented design. The engineer may work independently or as part of a team, reviews and tests software components against design requirements, documents test results, resolves software problem reports, and uses software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. The position also provides input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS use in place of new development, and analysis and synthesis of requirements from system level to individual software components. The position is onsite in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, with a day shift and no required travel. A current TS/SCI clearance and polygraph are required. The projected annual compensation range is $241,000–$255,000. Requirements

At least 12 years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Experience with AWS and DevOps.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required, with four years of experience in programs using Big-Data cloud technologies and/or distributed computing. Four years of cloud software engineering experience on similar Big-Data systems may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
A master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline may substitute for two years of experience.
Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one year of cloud experience.
Two years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval experience.
One year implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table.
One year implementing code that interacts with a Cloud Distributed File System.
One year implementing complex MapReduce analytics.
One year implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
One year architecting Cloud Computing solutions.
One year debugging problems with Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks.
One year managing multi-node Cloud-based installations.
Computer Network Operations experience, including utility computing, network management, virtualization (VMware or VirtualBox), and cloud computing.
Experience managing and installing cloud and distributed computing on multiple nodes, using Python, CFEngine, Bash, Ruby, or related technologies.
Information Assurance experience securing cloud-based and distributed applications using industry-standard techniques, including firewalls, PKI certificate and server authentication, and corporate authentication services.
Information Technology experience with object-oriented design and programming, Java, Eclipse or a similar development environment, Maven, and RESTful web services.
Experience with cloud and distributed computing technologies such as YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, ZooKeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, concurrent programming, and multi-node implementation or installation.
Experience with cloud and distributed computing information retrieval technologies such as HDFS, HBase, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, or MongoDB.
Experience ingesting, parsing, and analyzing disparate data sources and formats, including XML, JSON, CSV, binary formats, sequence or map files, and Avro.
Experience with aspect-oriented design and development.
Experience debugging and profiling cloud and distributed installations, including JVM memory management and profiling Java applications.
Experience with UNIX/Linux and CentOS.
SIGINT experience in at least one collection discipline area (FORNSAT, CABLE, Terrestrial/Microwave, Overhead, or ELINT), as well as geolocation, emitter identification, and signal applications; joint program collection platforms and dataflow architectures; and signals characterization analysis.
Experience with CentOS, Linux/RedHat, and configuration management tools such as Subversion, ClearQuest, or Razor.
Current TS/SCI clearance and a polygraph are required.

Nice To Haves

Java or front-end experience with Angular and TypeScript (not AngularJS).
