Cloud Platform Engineer

DocusignSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Our team is in the business of trust and reliability. We create, maintain, and operate scalable technology and data solutions that deliver an exceptional experience for our internal and external customers. We embrace Agile principles, favor DevOps practices, and view infrastructure as code, all while building an infrastructure that scales and supports our growth and ambitious vision. This requires a smart, highly collaborative team who can identify, investigate, and implement new technologies to continue securely scaling our global business. This is a hands-on software engineering role: you write, review, and ship production-quality code to build and operate the shared infrastructure, tooling, and automation that reduce friction for engineers across Docusign. You are an AI-native engineer - you use AI coding assistants and modern automation as force multipliers in your daily work, and you help build scalable, production-ready AI services and capabilities into our cloud foundation so multiple teams can adopt them securely and efficiently. The successful candidate is self-directed and self-motivated, yet capable of taking instruction and feedback, and partners closely with product and platform engineering teams. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, DevOps Engineering.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering roles
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and testing production-quality code (Python and/or Go) - not just configuring tools
  • Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and/or AI agent frameworks with the ability to apply AI to automate infrastructure and developer workflows and comfort using AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell) for infrastructure management
  • Experience managing resources in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and building immutable infrastructure with IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience building or operating LLM-powered or agentic services in production (e.g., RAG, model routing/gateways, orchestration frameworks)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows administration and optimization
  • Experience with monitoring, telemetry, or AIOps tooling
  • Understanding of network architecture and security best practices, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing in cloud environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and ship production-quality code (e.g., Python, Go) to build tools and automation that improve the accessibility of our platform and increase the productivity of our product teams
  • Assist in the design and implementation of key shared infrastructure components to enhance the availability and scalability of our services
  • Help build, integrate, and operate production-ready AI services and features within our cloud platforms - including LLM-powered and agentic workflows that automate operations and improve developer and employee experience
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize IaC using Terraform or Ansible to automate cloud resource management and deployment across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Participate in on-call support as part of a rotation with other team members and contribute to incident response, root-cause analysis, and self-healing solutions that minimize downtime
  • Support services throughout their lifecycle by contributing a cross-stack perspective on system design, self-service capabilities, scalability, automation, capacity, and reliability
  • Implement security controls and Zero Trust practices, partnering with InfoSec teams to maintain a strong security posture and compliance across cloud environments
  • Monitor cloud environments using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and other monitoring tools; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization for cost-efficiency
