Cloud Platform Engineer
About The Position
Serves as a specialist in a group of technologies and services supported within technology. Works with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams to implement and manage technical solutions that meet current and future organizational needs. The role may involve infrastructure architecture and design, research and development of systems, technology standards and policies, requirements analysis, unit and system integration testing, and user acceptance testing. The engineer interacts with business partners, coordinates vendor resources, mentors less experienced staff, and promotes industry best practices. The position also requires maintaining knowledge of Bank applications, systems, development environments, and vendor technologies, while adhering to risk, regulatory, and internal control standards.
Requirements
- Combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
- Strong understanding of the system development and infrastructure lifecycle and architecture, vendor best practices, IT Service Management, and systems design.
- Understanding of Windows Server and RedHat Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of cloud computing.
- Understanding or working experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- Understanding of automation development languages, including YAML.
- Understanding of Terraform.
- Understanding of Ansible.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in a technical engineering position involving infrastructure design technologies, data management and interchange, system design, and/or development for complex applications.
- Ability to translate complex business and functional requirements into structured, high-quality implementations using industry-standard approaches.
- Advanced technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Verifiable knowledge and advanced expertise in industry and/or vendor technologies.
- Ability to gather, document, and analyze system specifications and requirements with clients at varying levels, and work closely with integrators, developers, and testers in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to use effective facilitation skills and techniques to elicit and review requirements from diverse stakeholders and groups.
- Understanding of how people, processes, and technology interact to create feasible solutions for projects of medium to high complexity.

Responsibilities
- Work with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams to implement and manage technical solutions.
- Contribute to infrastructure architecture and design, systems research and development, technology standards and policies, requirements analysis, and testing.
- Interact independently with business partners to clarify problems and opportunities and elicit business requirements.
- Coordinate vendor interactions and vendor resources as needed.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators, and review their documentation, proposals, and proposed changes.
- Continuously expand knowledge of Financial Services trends, practices, and technologies.
- Follow and promote industry best practices, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of Bank applications, systems, development environments, and vendor technologies and services used by the Bank.
- Adhere to Company risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; identify risk-related issues for escalation.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
