Cloud Platform Engineer

PlexusNeenah, WI
$77,400 - $116,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are expanding our technical operations in Neenah and seeking a skilled Cloud/Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role; candidates should be local to the Neenah area and able to work onsite at least three days per week to foster collaboration and support our hybrid infrastructure. The Cloud/Platform Engineer will use and demonstrate the Plexus core values to provide technical support to the Plexus user community while ensuring that cloud applications, systems, and network technologies are available and functioning in support of business processes. This role is central to the "Cloud Engineering" model, treating the network as software to accelerate delivery cycles and leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) expertise. To deliver and maintain secure, reliable, and sustainable technology solutions, the Cloud/Platform Engineer will collaborate with Networking personnel, Security/Compliance teams, and business partners. This role operates with a clear demarcation point at the Cloud Router/SD-WAN interface, providing "single-pane" ownership of the VPC environment to reduce handoff latency and improve deployment speed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • Four (4) years of related experience is required; six (6) or more years of related experience is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.

  • Proficient in Linux, Terraform, GKE, and Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
  • Expert-level use of scripting and automation tools including Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Python/Docker integration).
  • Understanding of cloud-native networking constructs like VPC peering, Shared VPCs, and Policy-Based Routing (PBR).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and drive complex projects in an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical team members, including providing detailed documentation and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Ability to support around-the-clock monitoring and management, which may result in activities after normal business hours.
  • Maintains confidentiality of department, company, and customer information while working safely.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the end-to-end lifecycle of GCP networking—including VPC architecture, Shared VPC management, and Cloud DNS—leveraging Terraform and IaC pipelines to automate routing logic and security controls.
  • Acts as the Accountable/Responsible party for Terraform/IaC development, review, and pipeline execution for all cloud constructs.
  • Implements GCP Firewall rules, IAM policies, and VPC Service Controls to ensure workloads meet project requirements in GCP.
  • Manages the full lifecycle of VMs, GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) clusters, and Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) at the edge.
  • Responsible for Policy-Based Routing (PBR) logic and internal appliance routing within the GCP project environment.
  • Produces detailed design specifications and uses modeling techniques (such as Open Policy Agent or custom IaC scanning) to build system components following agreed architectures and design standards.
  • Investigates escalated, non-routine, and high-impact incidents, seeking resolution and ensuring proper documentation, root cause analysis, and closure.
