Cloud Platform Engineer IL6/cArmy

Koniag Government Services, LLC•Washington, DC
•$148,000 - $175,000

About The Position

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is recruiting for a Cloud Platform Engineer to support a U.S. Army customer on a large-scale contracting systems modernization and automation program. The engineer will build and sustain the platform within the Government-furnished cArmy/SIPR IL-6 boundary, coordinating Appian, enterprise services, identity, logging, storage, networking, capacity, recovery, and inherited controls under the approved shared-responsibility model. This is a contingent recruiting profile for a future new business opportunity; the opening, employing subsidiary, compensation, work location, and staffing remain subject to final contract authorization. The role involves planning and implementing IL-6 development, test, staging, and production environments; configuring boundary-specific services and settings; supporting approved transfers of versioned Appian and related artifacts into SIPRNet; and integrating repositories, pipeline services, monitoring, scanners, evidence sources, backup, and recovery capabilities. The engineer monitors platform health and performance, develops capacity models, coordinates provider-controlled changes, executes operational-readiness and recovery testing, and maintains technical documentation and escalation procedures. The position requires regular work at Government-approved secure facilities and use of authorized SIPRNet/IL-6 systems. Remote work is limited to duties that do not require classified access and must be specifically authorized. Maintenance windows, security assessments, recovery exercises, and critical incident response may occur outside normal duty hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related field; additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Seven or more years of cloud or platform engineering experience, including work in classified or tightly controlled DoD environments.
  • Experience with cArmy or comparable DoD cloud services, SIPRNet operations, identity, networking, monitoring, backup/recovery, and shared-responsibility controls.
  • Experience supporting managed application platforms and coordinating provider-owned infrastructure changes.
  • U.S. citizenship and the active security clearance or eligibility required for the assigned work by the start of performance, with ongoing eligibility thereafter.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Government, technical, and business stakeholders and maintain accurate work records in approved systems.
  • Ability to protect Controlled Unclassified Information and classified information, when assigned, and comply with required access, training, and handling procedures.
  • cArmy and classified cloud/platform engineering.
  • SIPRNet environment configuration and operations.
  • Capacity, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  • Shared-responsibility and inherited controls.
  • Secure artifact transfer and IL-6 DevSecOps support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience deploying or operating Appian in Army or DoD environments.
  • AWS, cloud security, Linux/Windows, networking, or platform engineering certification.
  • Experience with Splunk, GitLab, Nexus, SonarQube, eMASS, STIGs, and classified DevSecOps pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement IL-6 development, test, staging, and production environments with cArmy, Appian, security, and stakeholders.
  • Document platform architecture, service dependencies, data flows, interfaces, inherited controls, and customer responsibilities.
  • Configure boundary-specific identity, credentials, data sources, logging, security settings, feature availability, storage, and authorized endpoints.
  • Support the approved inspection and transfer of versioned Appian packages, scripts, plug-ins, tests, SBOM information, and configuration artifacts into SIPRNet.
  • Integrate IL-6 repositories, pipeline services, monitoring, scanners, evidence sources, backup, and recovery capabilities.
  • Monitor availability, response time, throughput, queues, storage, platform health, interfaces, security events, and errors.
  • Develop and refresh capacity models using users, concurrency, transactions, data growth, log volume, recovery objectives, and fiscal year-end demand.
  • Coordinate provider-controlled scaling, maintenance, incidents, vulnerabilities, certificates, and lifecycle changes.
  • Execute platform readiness, failover, backup/restore, recovery, performance, and operational-acceptance testing.
  • Maintain IL-6 runbooks, configuration records, inventories, diagrams, evidence, and Tier 3 escalation procedures.
