Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Cerebras Systems•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

Cerebras Systems is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate the AWS infrastructure that powers its products and platform. This hands-on, high-ownership role combines infrastructure engineering and reliability. The engineer will architect scalable cloud systems, advance infrastructure-as-code practices, and work with engineering teams to keep production environments fast, resilient, and secure as the company grows.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, SRE, or DevOps roles, with a strong software engineering foundation.
  • Deep hands-on AWS expertise, including the ability to architect complex multi-region, multi-account environments.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or equivalent practical depth.
  • Expert-level Terraform skills and experience with Atlantis or similar GitOps workflows for infrastructure.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language, including writing production-grade automation.
  • Proven Kubernetes experience, preferably EKS, including cluster lifecycle, networking such as CNI and service mesh, and workload reliability.
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking, including VPC design, peering, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, security groups, and NACLs.
  • Experience with AWS IAM at scale, including role design, permission boundaries, OIDC federation, and least-privilege enforcement.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and deploying AI-assisted automation for triage, incident response, or operational workflows.
  • Strong incident command skills, including owning production outages end-to-end and writing postmortems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS cost optimization at scale, including Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Spot orchestration.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in a cloud context.
  • Experience in GPU/ML infrastructure or high-performance compute workloads on AWS.
  • Proven experience running on-call rotations, defining SLOs, and improving operational maturity in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience supporting highly technical engineering populations where both uptime and speed matter.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and operate AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, EKS/ECS, IAM, networking, and data services such as RDS, S3, and ElastiCache.
  • Own cloud workload reliability by defining SLOs, error budgets, and runbooks; lead incident response and durable root-cause remediation.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and GitOps pipelines, eliminating manual provisioning.
  • Design and implement multi-account AWS organization strategies using AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and SCPs for security and cost governance.
  • Instrument cloud infrastructure with metrics, tracing, alerting, and cost visibility using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
  • Automate provisioning, scaling, patching, and lifecycle management to reduce operational toil.
  • Partner with security, networking, and platform teams on cloud security architecture, identity federation, and network reliability.
  • Evaluate and adopt AWS-native and third-party tools to improve developer experience and infrastructure efficiency.

Benefits

  • Job stability with startup vitality.
  • A work culture described as simple and non-corporate that respects individual beliefs.
  • An environment that supports continuous learning, growth, and support of colleagues.
