Cloud and IT Systems Administrator

International House at UC Berkeley•Berkeley, CA
•$95,000 - $105,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Cloud and IT Systems Administrator is the primary technical owner of International House’s cloud and on-premises platforms. Reporting to the Event Services and Technology Director, this hands-on role administers a broad, integrated system estate, builds automation to reduce manual work, and leads technical projects that modernize the organization and its building operations. The administrator works with Admissions and Financial Aid, Accounting, Housing Operations, Dining, Facilities, Events, Human Resources, UC Berkeley counterparts, and external vendors. The role administers Microsoft 365 and identity services, StarRez, Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge, and a wider set of business, facilities, security, communications, and operational platforms. It owns the Freshservice service desk queue and the lifecycle of certificates, API keys, service accounts, and storage tokens. The administrator designs Power Automate workflows and API-driven integrations, monitors integrations, and automates employee lifecycle, procurement, and recurring operational processes. The position leads technical initiatives from scoping through handover, including security systems, digital signage, archival storage, media infrastructure, and network projects. It also leads modernization of cloud and on-premises infrastructure, documents systems and configurations, manages vendor relationships, licenses and costs, and maintains an inventory of systems and dependencies. The administrator provides day-to-day guidance to student workers and junior technical staff and shares knowledge to ensure systems are not dependent on a single person. This is an on-site, full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with occasional work outside standard business hours during move-in, move-out, system cutovers, and incidents. Periodic physical work in the building may involve access to servers, networks, and security equipment.

  • Evidence of owning a technical project end to end, including coordination responsibilities.
  • Clear written communication, including the ability to write for nontechnical audiences and maintain durable documentation.
  • Sound judgment about access, privacy, and data protection, and discipline in applying least privilege by default.

  • Experience with payment platforms and their integrations, such as Stripe, TouchNet, or a campus equivalent.

  • Own the Freshservice service desk queue, including triage, assignment, resolution, escalation, and queue-health reporting.
  • Manage certificates, API keys, service accounts, and storage tokens through a defined lifecycle.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power Automate workflows, including high-volume operational runs and workflows supporting admissions, finance, and housing.
  • Build and maintain API-driven integrations across StarRez, Quadient, Verkada, Qualtrics, Atrium, Infor, and finance platforms.
  • Automate employee lifecycle, procurement, and recurring operational processes, reducing reliance on manual reminders and individual knowledge.
  • Monitor integrations so failures are detected proactively.
  • Lead technical initiatives from scoping through handover, including residence security deployments, digital signage, archival storage redesign, internal podcast and media infrastructure, and network projects with UC Berkeley and external vendors.
  • Lead modernization of cloud and on-premises systems, including server and network infrastructure refreshes.
  • Write and maintain documentation, runbooks, and exported configurations for systems.
  • Manage technical vendor relationships, renewals, license counts, support escalations, and contract-relevant technical requirements.
  • Review license usage and recommend cost reductions without reducing service.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of systems, owners, renewal dates, and dependencies.
