About The Position

The Clothing Clerk helps create a positive and uplifting experience for temple patrons by laundering, mending, and caring for clothing and linens used in the temple. The role typically reports to the Clothing Supervisor and provides guidance and direction to temple volunteers and service missionaries. Duties include operating commercial laundry equipment, preparing clothing and linens for temple use, assisting patrons with clothing needs, training and overseeing volunteers, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, customer service, or a related area.
• Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
• Ability to follow instructions and be teachable.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to focus and stay on task.
• Demonstrated, consistent excellence in customer service.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and to bend, kneel, stoop, pull, push, climb a step stool and/or ladder, and perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be a Church member worthy of a temple recommend.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial laundry equipment and prepare clothing and linens for temple use by sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items for patrons, workers, and others.
• Train service missionaries and volunteers in daily laundry operations and oversee their work and priorities.
• Courteously assist patrons with needed temple clothing in appropriate sizes and ensure sufficient clothing is available; may oversee clothing rental operations.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens, and change washer chemicals as needed.
• Spot-clean clothing with appropriate cleaners and solutions.
• May assist with steam-pressing and other ironing responsibilities.
• May track and maintain daily production records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
