About The Position

Herzog Energy, Inc. is currently seeking a Closeout Engineer in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. This role involves working in a team environment with other Closeout Engineers and Project Staff, reading and understanding construction contracts and project specifications, and developing and maintaining closeout tools such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Project Progress Reports, Tracking Mechanisms, and Closeout Checklists. The position requires coordination with Project Staff to conduct audits and documentation reviews, assisting with managing the construction closeout process, and training Project Staff on closeout tools and processes. Travel is required. Regular and consistent engagement, participation, and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors, as well as regular and predictable attendance and punctuality, are requirements for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Solid communication skills
  • Must work well in a team environment, but also be able to work as an individual
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).

Nice To Haves

  • Four-Year degree in construction related field or equivalent construction or construction estimating experience preferred
  • Experience using Data Management Systems such as Procore, HCSS, PMWeb preferred
  • Experience using and understanding construction schedules and schedule programs such as Primavera P6 preferred
  • Experience using AI driven programs a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with other Closeout Engineers and Project Staff
  • Read and understand construction contracts, project specifications, Federal requirements, and any other Project governing documents
  • Develop and maintain closeout tools such as: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Project Progress Reports, Tracking Mechanisms, Closeout Checklists, etc.
  • Coordinate with Project Staff to conduct audits and documentation reviews to determine project compliance and closeout progress
  • Assist Project Staff with managing the construction closeout process as needed
  • Train Project Staff on closeout tools and processes
