Main 5 is a 29-bed acute care medical unit at Harrisburg Hospital dedicated to providing high quality compassionate care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. Patients primarily come from the Emergency Department with medical diagnoses related to the endocrine, integumentary, gastrointestinal, renal, respiratory and genitourinary systems. The unit specializes in the orientation of new graduates, offering valuable experience in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork, professional growth, shared decision making, and a healthy work/life balance. The Clinician is a nurse leader with direct responsibility for achieving a culture of excellence and patient care, serving as a highly developed role model of professional nursing practice. Under the general direction of the Unit Director or other department manager, the Clinician is responsible for completing employee evaluations, conducting staff selection and hiring, and managing the daily performance of direct reports. This role also involves providing service-based education and clinical expertise for staff, including orientation, training, consultation on practice issues, and general coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may have shift accountability for delivering nursing care when needed.
