This position involves providing clinical services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy. The role requires working with a diverse client population, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. There are two levels, Clinician I and Clinician II, with Clinician II managing a psychiatric caseload and specific documentation requirements for LA County DMH. Clinician I is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and identifying the appropriate level of patient care through comprehensive ASAM or ITA assessments. They participate in treatment plan development, provide guidance on assessments and documentation, and maintain client records. This role involves participating in a multidisciplinary treatment team, consulting with staff on client cases and medication, and demonstrating competency in substance abuse and co-occurring disorder treatment. Sensitivity to cultural differences is essential. Clinician I may carry a caseload, conduct individual/group sessions, meet productivity goals, make referrals, and support staff/intern training. They also participate in quality improvement efforts and serve as a liaison with community agencies, advocating and educating on client needs, and may make community presentations. Clinician II is responsible for a psychiatric caseload of adolescents, transitional age youth, and/or adults. They complete all intake documentation, including LA County DMH forms. This role involves performing culturally competent DMH assessments, identifying diagnoses, and developing client coordination care plans. Clinician II maintains detailed client record documentation, prepares intake and discharge summaries, progress notes, and treatment reviews. They conduct individual and group psychotherapy sessions, participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, and consult with psychiatric staff on client cases and medication issues. They ensure outcomes are completed timely and accurately, make community presentations, and may provide transportation for clients. Competency in substance abuse and co-occurring disorder treatment is required, along with sensitivity to cultural differences. Clinician II must maintain a valid BBS registration (ACSW or MFTI), assess client mental status, make accurate diagnoses, develop effective care coordination plans, analyze crisis situations, conduct mental health education, evaluate clients for medication referrals, present client history to psychiatrists, and coordinate emergency psychiatric support services.
