About The Position

The Clinician is primarily responsible for providing psychotherapy to clients experiencing homelessness sheltered at Haven for Hope. The Clinician facilitates client’s community re-entry and progress on their Person-Centered Recovery Plan. The Clinician will provide evidence-based behavioral counseling services that meet the client’s individual needs such as, but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Living Room Counseling/Crisis Intervention, and Dual Recovery Therapy/Mission Model. The Clinician will additionally offer outreach screenings, assessments, treatment planning, consultative services, and outreach education.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Hold and maintain a current Texas LCSW or LPC licensure.
  • At least 5 years of direct counseling experience in high-volume clinical settings, demonstrating the ability to effectively manage large caseloads while maintaining quality of care and strong clinical outcomes.
  • Experience in community mental health, street outreach, shelter-based services, or supportive housing.
  • Training in evidence-based practices such as but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Living Room Counseling/Crisis Intervention, Dual Recovery Therapy/Mission Model CBT, and other modalities.
  • Skill to accurately diagnose and assess clients utilizing DSM-5.
  • Ability to effectively manage large caseloads in high-volume clinical settings while maintaining high-quality care and achieving strong clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in completing timely, accurate, and clinically sound documentation; including case notes, biopsychosocial assessments, and treatment plans; within an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Ability to review, learn, follow and adapt evidenced-based treatment programs to deliver to diverse client groups.
  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion and sensitivity to persons with histories of homelessness and traumas
  • Excellent administrative ability, to include organizational skills, attention to detail and strong computer skills
  • Strong creative and critical thinking skills, to include the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, and group therapy and clinical case management in high-volume clinical setting.
  • Completes essential services that may include biopsychosocial assessments and evaluations, substance use assessments, treatment planning, interventions, client outreach and development of therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness through consistent outreach and engagement.
  • Develops and update Treatment Plans with assigned caseload.
  • Provides supervision and support to Social Work or Counseling interns.
  • Coordinates psychiatric and medical care with internal and external providers, including medication management, prescription resources, and any services that involve continuity of care for clients with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Provides outreach support to clients with complex needs, utilizing trauma-informed engagement and intervention to assist in improving functioning.
  • Assists clients with behavioral/motivational changes in order to improve health and wellness.
  • Maintains and protects client confidentiality, in alignment with agency policy, and in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Documents all services, clinical findings accurately and on time in client records in alignment with protocol.
  • Upholds with professional code of ethics, and adheres to the agency mission by valuing individual dignity, empowerment, and a holistic healing approach.
