About The Position

The Business Education Department at Illinois State University is creating a pool of qualified individuals for Clinician or Clinical Assistant Professor positions, focusing on student-teacher supervision. These are part-time, non-tenure-track roles, with applications accepted continuously as vacancies arise. The primary responsibility is to mentor teacher candidates during their student teaching internship, acting as a liaison between Illinois State University and school district personnel, particularly the cooperating teacher. Supervisors will conduct at least six on-site observations per semester, provide formal midterm and final assessments, grade weekly assignments, and participate in monthly Zoom meetings with student-teachers and other supervisors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Education or related field
  • At least five years of classroom teaching experience in a middle school or high school Business Education classroom
  • State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position

Responsibilities

  • Mentor teacher candidates in their student teaching internship
  • Act as a liaison between ISU and the school district personnel, primarily the cooperating teacher
  • Observe the student-teacher on-site at least six times during the student teaching semester
  • Provide formal assessments (midterm and final) of the teacher candidate's teaching episodes
  • Grade weekly assignments
  • Attend monthly Zoom meetings with the student-teachers and the other Business Education supervisors
