About The Position

Tulane University School of Medicine’s John W. Deming Department of Medicine is seeking a physician-scientist to join the faculty. This is a full-time position within the Center for Health Outcomes, Implementation, and Community Engaged Science (CHOICES) Section. The successful candidate will contribute to our excellence in clinical care, research, and education with a key role in expanding the Center's clinical and population research and national visibility by developing and leading extramurally funded investigator-initiated primary care and community-engaged research to improve health.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or equivalent primary care specialty
  • Eligible for a Louisiana medical license
  • Clinical research experience and track record of research accomplishments

  • Experience developing a clinic and referral pipeline
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical studies and trials, and disseminating results through peer-reviewed professional publications and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional outpatient care in internal medicine and/or adult primary care.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and improvement projects.
  • Comply promptly with billing, documentation, credentialing, and other administrative requirements.
  • Develop and lead investigator-initiated clinical and population health research, conduct collaborative, primary care, and community-based clinical trials and studies, publish and present research findings in peer-reviewed scientific venues as lead author.
  • Develop and maintain an independent research program supported by federal and other extramural funding agencies.
  • Facilitate expansion of CHOICES by engaging and collaborating with the broader university community, clinical and research programs, community, and other academic partners to advance science for improved health in primary care.
  • Train and mentor fellows, residents, and medical/graduate students, and actively engage them with initiatives in CHOICES.
  • Provide educational activities, including periodic Medical Grand Rounds lectures for faculty, fellows, residents, and students.
  • These responsibilities may vary from time to time and will be assigned by the CHOICES Director.
